Global Leaders' Responses to the Israel-Hamas War

Global Leaders' Responses to the Israel-Hamas War

The Washington Post has presented how world leaders are responding to the war between Israel and Hamas. Leaders from the United States, France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom condemned Hamas's attacks on Israel as unjustified acts of terrorism. They promised to support Israel's defense while recognizing the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians.

The European Union has also expressed support for Israel and initiated a review of financial aid to the Palestinians, clarifying that payments will not be halted immediately.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Hamas, comparing its tactics to those of Russia, and advised allies to support Israel.

The countries participating in the Abraham Accords—Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, UAE, and Bahrain—condemned Hamas's attacks. Morocco expressed deep concern but refrained from an outright condemnation. Sudan's Foreign Ministry explained the violence as a result of decreasing international interest in the Palestinian issue.

Saudi Arabia, although not a supporter of the Abraham Accords, called for an immediate cessation of hostilities but did not directly condemn Hamas.

Neighbors Egypt and Jordan, which have normalized relations with Israel, urged restraint and emphasized their commitment to a two-state solution.

Iran and Qatar reacted differently; Iran congratulated Hamas on its successful operation, while Qatar blamed Israel for escalating violence.

Russia has expressed concern but has not condemned Hamas, criticizing the West and the U.S. for ignoring peace mechanisms in the Middle East. Turkey and China have called for an end to violence, with Turkey offering to mediate and China emphasizing the necessity to implement the principle of a two-state solution.
