The Activities of the Exiled Government of Artsakh Are a Necessity: Metakse Hakobyan
Metakse Hakobyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh from the 'Justice' faction, stated in an interview with 'Factinfo' that the continuation of the government’s activities in Armenia is necessary, as the capital of 120,000 Artsakh inhabitants cannot be wasted.
“For me, the perception remains the same; there is a government of Artsakh, a National Assembly of Artsakh, which could not and has not been dissolved. Now everyone must be able to roll up their sleeves and get to work. In reality, if we weaken and continue to mourn, this will simply never end. We must accept reality, remain sober, and not detach ourselves from the truth. We should not consider that everything is finished,” said Hakobyan, adding, “Recently, I have been thinking a lot about the fact that the worst-case scenario might indeed be like this, but even under these circumstances, we must continue to fight. We must not deprive future generations of the chance to return to their homeland.”
“If we weaken and assume everything is done, we will first and foremost deprive our generations of the opportunity to return to their homeland,” he emphasized, underscoring that the continuation of the Artsakh government’s operations is the only possibility for standing back up.
Hakobyan remarked that the integration program of Baku is well-known to all. They are still talking about integration. This means that according to the agreements reached after September 19, even if only 10-20 citizens live in Artsakh, it does not matter; dialogue must continue. Therefore, the only reasonable option is for the Artsakh government to continue its work from Armenia.
In response to the question of whether this is only regarding January 1, 2024, the Artsakh MP emphasized that everything depends on what questions will be discussed and what demands will be made by Azerbaijan afterward. It would be appropriate for Artsakh to discuss and accept or reject those demands. In other words, there must be people who will realize that process. “I believe that it is essential to continue the work not only of the government but also of the Artsakh parliament. Ultimately, the people exist, the people have made their choice, and we all are obliged to fulfill our work now as well.”
According to Metakse Hakobyan, work is already underway in that direction; it is still not coordinated, but party members have already begun coordination.
