Lavrov on the Intensification of the Palestine-Israel Conflict

The intensification of the Palestine-Israel conflict has shown that the current status quo is unstable. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during talks with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, as reported by TASS.

“Today we have planned and discussed all aspects of our cooperation, including the upcoming meetings at the ministerial level between Russia and the members of the Arab League. However, of course, the unprecedented sharp turn in the Palestine-Israel confrontation has once again confirmed that the current status quo in the conflict zone is simply not viable and requires adjustments in our agenda,” he said.

“I am confident that Russia, the League of Arab States, and all member countries of this organization can and must contribute to resolving the issues, primarily by ending the bloodshed and alleviating the suffering of the civilian population. We are ready to do this together with you and all other countries that are sincerely interested in establishing sustainable peace in the Middle East and ensuring the security of all countries in the region without exception, including the state of Palestine, the establishment of which is required by the [UN] Security Council resolution,” stated the Russian Foreign Minister.
