Azerbaijan Announces Necessity for Further Strengthening of its Army

Azerbaijan's Minister of Defense Zakir Hasanov has announced the necessity for further strengthening of the Azerbaijani army. According to Azerbaijani media, an official consultation was held on October 9 under the leadership of the Minister of Defense.

"It has been emphasized that the further strengthening of the Azerbaijani army is one of the important factors for ensuring security... The operational situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani conditional border has been analyzed during the meeting. Specific directives have been given towards enhancing the capabilities of air defense, intelligence, counter-intelligence units, electronic warfare, and other divisions," the Ministry of Defense's statement quotes the media.
