Shocked by Violence Between Palestinians and Israelis: Armenian Foreign Ministry

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the sharp escalation of the situation in the Palestine-Israel conflict zone.

"We are shocked by the violence between Palestinians and Israelis and the targeting of civilians. We express our condolences to the families of the victims and wish a swift recovery to the injured. We join the international calls to cease violence," the Ministry's statement reads.

On the morning of October 7, HAMAS began launching rockets towards Israel, with reports indicating that 5,000 rockets were fired. HAMAS militants entered inhabited areas in Israel and took hostages. The group's objective is stated as the establishment of a Palestinian state. Iran has provided support for HAMAS's actions.

In response to the attack, Israel initiated the anti-terrorism operation "Iron Swords" in the Gaza Strip. The country's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant referred to the situation as a war and promised that Israel would prevail.

NATO and the USA have expressed their support for Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has emphasized the necessity for a prolonged and robust operation in the Gaza Strip.

According to the latest data from the Israeli Ministry of Health, over 100 Israelis have been killed and 900 injured in the country. In the Gaza Strip, 198 people have reportedly died, and 1610 have been injured, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
