Palestinian People Have the Right to Defend Themselves from Terrorism and Occupation Forces, Mahmoud Abbas
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in comments made after Hamas announced the commencement of new military operations against Israel, stated that "the Palestinian people have the right to defend themselves from the terrorism of settlers and occupation forces," according to Reuters.
Today, Abbas chaired an emergency leadership meeting that included several civilians and security service personnel. "The president has instructed to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people, emphasizing their right to defend themselves from terrorism and occupation forces. He also instructed to remain steadfast against the crimes committed by Israeli occupation and settler gangs," a Palestinian media outlet reported.
It is noteworthy that early this morning, the Palestinian group Hamas launched rockets into Israeli territory. The Israeli side reports casualties and injuries. Fierce battles are ongoing with Hamas members in southern and central Israel.
