VIDEO: No one had said before Pashinyan that Artsakh is part of Armenia; then his position radically changed, Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin considers it unjust to say that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan deliberately handed over Artsakh. As previously reported, during the Valdai International Discussion Club, responding to the remarks of Margarita Simonyan, editor of the Russia Today media group and RT television channel, Putin stated that Pashinyan was elected by the Armenian people.
“I cannot agree with you that someone brought Prime Minister Pashinyan to power to hand over Artsakh. However, that was the choice of the Armenian people. Yes, you may have different attitudes toward the electoral processes, but this is a fact, and therefore, I do not agree with you here. Secondly, I do not agree that he was aiming to hand over Artsakh. I have closely communicated with him during this conflict in 2020 and, of course, before that. Let us remember that when he came to power, he said that Artsakh is part of Armenia. No one had said this before. It is true that his position radically changed afterwards... Why, that question is not for me to answer... But during the 2020 conflict, I communicated with him, and in my opinion, he sincerely sought to maintain the situation, to preserve it. Now, I am not discussing whether the decisions were right or wrong. That is not my place to judge. But I consider it unfair to say that he deliberately handed over Artsakh,” he noted.
