Video: Footage of Arayik Harutyunyan's Arrest Released
The State Security Service of Azerbaijan has released footage of the arrest of former Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan. It is noted that Harutyunyan is facing criminal charges. According to local media reports, he has been charged with at least 9 offenses.
Specifically, Baku states that "while holding the position of President of Nagorno-Karabakh, Harutyunyan participated in aggressive warfare against Azerbaijan, engaged in the recruitment, training, and funding of mercenaries, involving them in military conflicts and operations." According to the Azerbaijani State Security Service, "there are reasonable grounds to suspect that Arayik Harutyunyan was involved in organizing actions related to mine-laying in Azerbaijani territories, as well as launching ballistic and other types of missiles towards Ganja and Barda, which resulted in the deaths of a large number of civilians and caused significant damage to civilian and military infrastructures."
It was previously reported that former Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan was captured. Yesterday, it was revealed that Baku provided a lawyer for the former president, who has since been questioned. Photos have also been released.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan has arrested and subsequently detained former State Minister of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan, former Presidents Bako Sahakyan and Arkadi Ghukasian, former Chairman of the National Assembly of Artsakh David Ishkhanyan, former Commander of the Defense Army Levon Mnatsakanyan, former Deputy Commander of the Defense Army David Manukyan, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh David Babayan.
