Government Allocates 8 Billion AMD from Reserve Fund to Support Displaced Persons from Nagorno-Karabakh

The government has allocated 8 billion AMD from the Reserve Fund to provide one-time monetary assistance of 100,000 AMD to 80,000 beneficiaries forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. The initiative was presented by Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan during the government meeting on October 5.

He first reminded that the 100,000 AMD assistance should be transferred to each individual's bank account. If a citizen does not have a bank account or card, they will need to open one. So far, 98% of those displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh have already registered.

“For citizens who have multiple bank cards, the financial aid will be provided to the account of the most recently active bank card. In other words, the Central Bank will provide us with the data of the cards that have conducted the latest transactions,” he stated.

Narek Mkrtchyan also announced that the payment process will begin tomorrow. “Naturally, we cannot immediately process everyone's payments, but we will kick-off the process right from tomorrow and will aim to implement it more intensively,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan reminded that Saturday and Sunday are non-working days, and people who do not receive the monetary assistance tomorrow will have to wait until Monday or Tuesday. “Many people may have concerns due to the weekend; thus, those who are not among the first group should remain patient. All data will be processed on Monday and Tuesday, and those transfers will be executed,” Deputy Prime Minister Khachatryan noted.

Regarding children displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh who are without parents, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan emphasized, “I suggest that if such cases exist—which I know they do—we should find a way to identify the guardians, but in addition to that, we also need to find urgent solutions for each individual child.”
