Aliyev Refuses to Meet Pashinyan in Granada: Reports
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has refused to meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, an encounter that was scheduled to take place in Granada, Spain, with the participation of EU, French, and German leaders.
Azerbaijani media report that Aliyev cited "France's unconstructive behavior" as the reason for avoiding the meeting, as well as the disagreement between the President of Turkey and the leaders of Paris and Berlin regarding Turkey's participation in the talks. Under such circumstances, Azerbaijan has declined to engage in negotiations.
The meeting was supposed to include Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of the European Council Charles Michel, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
