Azerbaijan Will Try to Exploit Tensions Between Armenia and Russia to Gain More, Says MP

The political appetite of Azerbaijan has significantly increased, especially in the context of resolving issues related to Artsakh. This was stated today by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly from the "I Have Honor" faction, during a press briefing.

"Azerbaijan will try to take advantage of the political, military, and psychological advantages presented by the current situation, as well as the sharp tension that has developed between Armenia and the main regional actor, Russia, and will try to gain more," Abrahamyan noted.

According to him, Azerbaijan is currently trying to solve two problems: to make Turkey a full part of the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, thereby automatically increasing Turkey's influence in the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan is also attempting to revise its approaches and demands that were formed after the 44-day war and presented to the Armenian authorities.

"Azerbaijan believes that the scope of its demands can be increased," Abrahamyan said. He also mentioned that pressures during the negotiation process will intensify, and in line with Azerbaijani policy, will also be accompanied by threats of the use of force. In this situation, it cannot be ruled out that a new arena may emerge soon for large-scale actions by Azerbaijan.
