Switzerland Allocates 1.5 Million Francs to Displaced Individuals from Nagorno-Karabakh

The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland has allocated 1.5 million francs to humanitarian organizations providing assistance to individuals displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as to those residing in the region. This was stated in a press release from the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“In less than a week, more than 100,000 people have been moved from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia and are facing a severe humanitarian situation. The Armenian authorities are working to accommodate these individuals in the best possible conditions, especially considering the impending winter,” the statement read.

“In light of this extraordinary situation, it has been decided to allocate nearly 1.5 million francs to support humanitarian efforts on the ground, of which 500,000 Swiss francs will be allocated to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The remainder will be distributed among key actors of the United Nations over the coming days. This additional funding comes in addition to the 1 million Swiss francs that have already been provided to the ICRC by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) for its operations in the region in 2023,” the statement concluded.
