Iranian President Finds NATO Presence in the South Caucasus Unacceptable
The presence of NATO forces in the South Caucasus region is unacceptable for Iran. This was stated by the President of the Islamic Republic, Ebrahim Raisi, during meetings with Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan and the Azerbaijani president's special representative for special assignments Khalaf Khalafov.
“The Zangezur corridor in the South Caucasus will serve as a basis for NATO forces' presence, which poses a threat to the national security of the countries in the region. The Islamic Republic is firmly against this,” the president is quoted by the IRNA agency, noting that Raisi made this remark during discussions with both Grigoryan and Khalafov.
The representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan, the agency reports, provided detailed reports to the head of Iran's cabinet on the current situation in the region.
