Yerevan Has Never Requested Moscow for Free Supply of Diesel or Gasoline: Ministry
Armenia has never requested the Russian Federation for a free supply of diesel or gasoline. This was stated by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia in response to an inquiry from Armenpress.
When asked if Yerevan had approached Moscow requesting a free supply of gasoline and diesel, the ministry confirmed: "Yerevan has never requested the Russian Federation for free supply of diesel or gasoline." According to the gas, petroleum, and natural diamond supply cooperation agreement signed between the parties in 2013, Russia sets indicative quotas for petroleum product exports to Armenia each year.
As of the beginning of October 2023, the quotas for gasoline and diesel had been exhausted. The Armenian side has requested an increase in quotas, which was partially granted, allowing Armenian importers to purchase and import 15,000 tons of gasoline and 20,000 tons of diesel from Russia.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement indicating that in response to a request from the Armenian leadership, Russia began the supply of necessary petroleum products to the republic.
