Russia Responds to Possible Closure of Russian Channels in Armenia
The chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of Russia, Grigory Karasin, addressed the announcement regarding the potential shutdown of Russian television channels in Armenia on his Telegram channel.
It was previously reported that Lucine Badalyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' party, announced that the issue of halting the broadcast of Russian television channels in Armenia is under discussion.
"I am surprised by the strange statement of one of the Armenian parliamentarians, talking about the 'possible closure' of Russian television channels in Armenia. The tone is scandalous. I do not know if this is an attempt to gain political points on an anti-Russian wave, but I am confident that such statements will not find support in Armenia and will not undermine the centuries-old foundations of friendship between our peoples," Karasin stated.
He reminded that the issues of broadcasting Russian and Armenian television channels were discussed at the recently held Russian-Armenian media forum in September.
Russia has noted that it will closely monitor developments.
