50-1000 Armenians Remain in Nagorno-Karabakh: UN Mission

The representative of the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, announced that during a one-day visit to the region, the mission did not observe signs of destruction of political infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, although all shops were closed.

"The UN team heard from local community representatives that between 50 to 1000 ethnic Armenians remain in Nagorno-Karabakh," Dujarric stated. "They have not heard any reports of violence against the civilian population since the confirmation of the last ceasefire. They did not see any dead pets or livestock, nor traces of destruction of agricultural infrastructure," he added.

Dujarric noted that the UN team has completed its visit to Nagorno-Karabakh but will continue to work with the Azerbaijani leadership to monitor the situation in the region.
