Thousands Participate in Brussels Rally in Support of Artsakh

More than ten thousand people from Germany, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands have gathered at the Robert Schuman Square in Brussels for a pan-European rally in support of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to an Armenpress correspondent, the rally organized by the initiative "Europeans for Artsakh" commenced with the national anthems of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

The majority of the placards held by participants accuse the European Union and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen of leaving the Aliyev regime unpunished, with some placards reading "Aliyev, murderer." High-ranking politicians, legislators, regional leaders, and mayors have arrived from France to participate in this rally, where they are expected to give speeches.

Karen Tadevosyan, President of the Armenian Committee of Belgium, stated, "Each of you gathered here today bears the responsibility for all those who work to ensure that the fate of the 120,000 Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh is not left abandoned. We are fed up with vague statements, and it is time for Europe to act and pay attention to the fact that we, as citizens of Europe, have equal rights to demand everything that any European citizen would demand. The only thing we can do today is to stand united in order to fight against all the injustices that, unfortunately, shape the geopolitical games."

The attendees gave a symbolic oath to fight for Armenia and Artsakh: "We will not concede or make peace. The Armenians of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh can count on us." The pan-European rally, part of the "Europeans for Artsakh" initiative, condemns the ethnic cleansing and genocidal policies of Azerbaijan, and is being held ahead of the third summit of the European Political Community scheduled for October 5, during which a meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is expected to take place, mediated by European Council President Charles Michel, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

On the same day as the demonstration in Brussels, similar protest actions will also be held in several other European countries, including Austria, Sweden, France, Denmark, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Slovakia, Germany, and the Czech Republic.

The "Europeans for Artsakh" initiative comprises representatives from European Armenian communities and more than 500 European organizations.
