The Presence of CBA Deputy Governor and Council Members at QP Headquarters is Their Personal Initiative
The fact that the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) and members of its council were present at the headquarters of the "Civil Contract" party during the Yerevan City Council elections is considered their personal initiative and has no connection with the performance of their job responsibilities. This was stated by the Central Bank in response to a written inquiry from Tert.am, while emphasizing that they cannot provide an explanation on this matter.
"You can personally address this issue to the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank and the council members. The Deputy Governor and council members are not appointed through internal procedures, and therefore, they are not members of the Central Bank staff. Given this situation, the CBA cannot also provide any assessment of their actions," the CBA clarified.
It is noteworthy that on the evening of September 17, during the Yerevan City Council elections, video footage was circulated by media outlets showing the council members of the CBA, specifically Artak Manukyan and the Deputy Governor, at the headquarters of the 'Civil Contract' party. Meanwhile, it is clearly stated on the official website of the CBA that the Governor, deputies, and other council members cannot be members of any party or engage in political activities during their term of authority.
