Putin Assigns Former Wagner Headquarters Chief to Form Volunteer Units
Russian President Vladimir Putin has tasked the former head of the Wagner group’s headquarters, retired Colonel Andrey Troshyev, with the formation of volunteer units.
“At our last meeting, we discussed that you will be engaged in forming volunteer units that can perform various combat tasks, primarily, of course, in the zone of special military operations,” Putin stated during a meeting on September 28 with Troshyev and Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.
“You have fought in such a unit for more than a year yourself. You know what it is, how it is done, and are aware of the issues that need to be resolved in advance to ensure that combat operations proceed in the best and most successful way,” Putin continued.
Additionally, the Russian president suggested discussing social support issues for participants in military operations, emphasizing that social guarantees should be the same regardless of the status of the person carrying out or having completed a combat task.
