Posibilities of Extending Peacekeeping Mission in Artsakh to be Discussed with Baku: Peskov

The continuation of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh remains unclear. In response to a question from URA.RU, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, stated that this topic will be subject to discussion with Azerbaijan.

“For now, it is unlikely that anyone will answer this question, as we are currently dealing with a mission that is located on Azerbaijani territory. This will be a subject of our discussions with the Azerbaijani side,” Peskov said.

He also added that the issue of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains relevant. The development of transport communications is vital for the Russian Federation, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, and Moscow hopes to continue working on this, Peskov noted.

It should be noted that the President of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, has signed a decree on the dissolution of the Republic of Artsakh. According to the decree, all state institutions and organizations will be dissolved by January 1, 2024, and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) will cease to exist.
