Peskov Comments on the Order of Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan

Russia is closely monitoring the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh. This statement was made by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, while commenting on the order issued today by Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan, according to which the Republic of Artsakh will cease to exist from January 1.

“We acknowledge this, and we are attentively observing the situation. First and foremost, of course, the humanitarian aspect is important,” Peskov said.

He noted that peacekeepers continue to assist people, many of whom express a desire to relocate to the territory of Armenia. “Support is being provided to all who wish to leave,” emphasized the spokesperson for the Russian president.

When journalists asked him who is to blame for the mass exodus of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, Peskov replied, “It is difficult to say who is to blame as there is no direct cause for such actions. However, people do express a desire to leave the territory of Karabakh. Some may wish to do so permanently, while others temporarily during the transition period.”

It should be noted that today we reported that Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan signed an order stating that the Republic of Artsakh will cease to exist from January 1.
