A meeting was held in Brussels between Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, and Hikmet Hajiyev, the foreign policy advisor to the President of Azerbaijan, which was briefly joined by Charles Michel, the President of the European Council.

The meeting was also attended by advisors to the leaders of France and Germany.

Armen Grigoryan and Hikmet Hajiyev discussed specific steps on how to advance the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, including issues of demarcation, security, communications, and humanitarian matters.

"Today's negotiations were quite constructive," said Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, at the conclusion of his meeting with Armen Grigoryan, as reported by Reuters.

He added, "There are now greater opportunities to move forward in the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations."

The negotiations between Armen Grigoryan and Hikmet Hajiyev were facilitated by the EU and marked the first diplomatic contacts between Armenia and Azerbaijan since Azerbaijan's attack on Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19.

It is noteworthy that Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, will depart from Brussels to Berlin.
