Lawyer Musheg Shushanyan Arrested for Calls to Violence Against Prime Minister Pashinyan

Lawyer Musheg Shushanyan has been arrested today for calling for violence against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, citing political motivations. This was reported by the Armenian Investigative Committee.

The Committee noted that on May 9, 2023, a video titled "The physical elimination of Nikol is completely justified. Musheg Shushanyan" was posted on the YouTube channel of the "National Democratic Axis", during which Shushanyan made calls for violence.

It was also mentioned that he continued his criminal activities—public calls for violence, justifying and promoting violence—on his Facebook page, specifically writing: "The awakening of the Armenians can only begin under one condition—if the traitor and the whole group of traitors are spontaneously executed by the people."

The Armenian Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings, which have been combined into a single case. Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against Shushanyan under the characteristics of the second part of the third point of Article 330 of the Armenian Criminal Code (public calls for violence, justifying or promoting violence publicly, as well as distributing materials or objects for that purpose).

As part of the proceedings, a decision was made to arrest him for the purpose of presenting him to court. The investigation is ongoing.
