Humanitarian Situation Remains Severe, Says Red Cross

Thousands of people who are now leaving their homes need protection from dangers. In light of the large-scale displacement of the population, we urge authorities to respect international humanitarian law. This is reported by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

“Sick, injured, elderly, disabled individuals, pregnant women, and children separated from their families or unaccompanied must receive special attention. Ensuring the safety of these individuals, as well as access to food and health services, is a top priority for the ICRC. It is also crucial to help citizens find their lost relatives and continue to evacuate the injured and those in urgent need of medical assistance,” the statement reads.

The humanitarian situation remains severe; there is a critical shortage of food and medicines, and telecommunications services are disrupted, making it difficult for people to connect with their loved ones. During the past week, our teams have evacuated 50 injured individuals in need of emergency assistance and provided 66 tons of flour, medical supplies, 28,000 diapers, and 1,500 liters of fuel to ensure the operation of generators in local medical facilities,” the message states.
