Baku Calls to Focus on Establishing Peace and Trust with Azerbaijan: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan announced on September 27 that Azerbaijan has no connection with the decision of the Armenians of the Nagorno-Karabakh region to move to Armenia or any other country.

According to the APA news agency, this statement is a response from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry to the announcement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia on the same date.

"We are ready to create conditions so that the Armenians of Karabakh can have a better life than the conditions they have lived in as hostages of the military junta established by Armenia," the statement said.

The document emphasizes that Azerbaijan is determined to "reintegrate the residents of Karabakh of Armenian descent as equal citizens in accordance with the Constitution and national legislation, as well as Azerbaijan's international obligations."

"We understand how painful it is for Armenia to see the collapse of the separatist regime established in the territories of Azerbaijan, but it would now be better for them {the Armenians} to focus on establishing peace and trust with Azerbaijan," the statement adds.

The document also notes that the foundation of any agreement must be based on the recognition of territorial integrity and sovereignty, "both in word and in deed."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan also responded to the Armenian Foreign Ministry by quoting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement: "Although on September 21, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that there is no direct threat to the (Nagorno-Karabakh) civilian population, the dissemination of information by the Armenian Foreign Ministry regarding the alleged "ethnic cleansing" of the local Armenians clearly demonstrates how unstructured and false Armenia's politics and position are."
