US to Provide Additional Humanitarian Aid for Needs of Displaced Individuals from Nagorno-Karabakh
The spokesperson for the National Security Council of the United States, Adrienne Watson, has issued a statement regarding the explosion that occurred at a fuel depot in Nagorno-Karabakh. The statement reads: "We are saddened by reports that at least 68 people have died, and hundreds have been injured as a result of the explosion at the fuel depot in Nagorno-Karabakh. We extend our condolences to the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh and all those affected. We call for continued humanitarian access to Nagorno-Karabakh for the benefit of all those in need. The US will continue to support those affected by the ongoing crisis, as 28,000 people have crossed from Nagorno-Karabakh into Armenia. Samantha Power is on the ground, and the United States announces additional humanitarian aid to meet the medical and other urgent needs of those affected by the violence or displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh."
It is worth noting that according to Gegham Stepanyan, the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, as of September 26 at 22:00, the number of confirmed deaths by the "Stepanakert Bureau of Forensic Expertise" is 68 (the identity of 21 is known, while the others are not).
