"There Is a Shortage of Gasoline, People Want to Save Themselves": The Village Chief of Aghavno

The column of displaced persons from Artsakh is slowing down towards Kornidzor due to a shortage of gasoline. This was stated by Andranik Chavushyan, the village chief of Aghavno, in a conversation with NEWS.am, who reached Kornidzor from Stepanakert in 37 hours.

"I have already come to Armenia, I am in Vayk. The column is so large and lengthy. There is a problem with food along the way, but who is thinking about that right now? People want to save themselves. We also experienced a gasoline issue, and the column is slowing down even more. The priority is to safely relocate [the people]. We don’t have authority, but at least we have a people—honest and caring," said Andranik Chavushyan.

According to him, the number of groups accepting the people from Artsakh in Kornidzor should be increased, and volunteer groups should be involved: "In Goris, they are organizing efforts, but the column is very long, and they can’t keep up, primarily due to the gasoline issue. Perhaps volunteer groups should be involved to speed up the flow of vehicles." Chavushyan noted that the population of Artsakh is currently disappointed: "The people are discouraged and want to leave the country."
