Syunik is Working Under Extreme Pressure: Governor

Syunik is working under extreme pressure to accommodate individuals forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. People are welcomed in a 24-hour regime, with a working group of 350 people operating in the region. This was stated in an interview with Armenpress by Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasian.

“We are receiving individuals in a 24-hour regime, and the flow of people is continuous; it does not end. From the Hakari Bridge to the city of Goriss, people are moving in with traffic jams and various issues, but the entire road is filled with thousands of Nagorno-Karabakh residents,” said Ghukasian.

According to the media outlet, a working group of 350 has been created, which includes staff from all the communities and the entire team of the governor.

“We are working under extreme tension and effort. The region is honorably fulfilling its assigned tasks. Of course, this is a disaster, and the issues are diverse, but we are doing our utmost to ensure that people who remain near the Hakari Bridge and are stuck in traffic somehow reach here,” the governor noted.

He pointed out that the primary burden is on Syunik, but individuals are being sent to all regions from there. Everyone is welcomed in Syunik, and efforts are made to understand their needs and assist them in reaching various regions as necessary.

“All shops and bakeries are operating 24 hours. The issue lies solely with the streets, which are completely paralyzed due to the tens of thousands of vehicles here. This is the core problem that slows down our work. There are no issues related to food or medicine. We are supplying food and water at 37 different points,” the governor mentioned during the interview.
