Germany Increases Humanitarian Aid: Foreign Ministry

Germany's Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Annalena Baerbock, has issued a statement regarding the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh. On her microblog, Baerbock wrote that thousands of children, women, and men in Nagorno-Karabakh are so terrified for their physical safety that they see no choice but to head towards Armenia, often taking only the most essential belongings and packed to the brim in vehicles.

“Every hour, their numbers are increasing. No one really knows what the conditions are like for people in Nagorno-Karabakh. Transparency and the eyes and ears of the international community on the ground are now crucial. We are working with our partners to send observers as quickly as possible. A proof of trust that Azerbaijan takes its promises regarding the safety and well-being of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh seriously would be if Azerbaijan were to allow the presence of international observers. Almost everything is still lacking. Aid through the Lachin corridor should not reach people in parts, but reliably and consistently. I have decided to increase our humanitarian aid through the ICRC from 2 million to 5 million euros,” wrote Annalena Baerbock.
