SOS: A Death Has Been Recorded in the Corridor, Another Humanitarian Disaster Is Near, Gegham Baghdasaryan

Gegham Baghdasaryan, the president of the Stepanakert Press Club, wrote on his Facebook page:

“SOS... The trials continue – now there is a risk of another humanitarian disaster, this time in the corridor, where thousands of vehicles are piled up with tens of thousands of people. People have been on the road for days, and the already scarce food supplies have been exhausted; water is also running out. I won’t even mention the sanitary and hygienic conditions... And there are children there, including infants, and elderly individuals with minimal resistance. The first child has already been born in the corridor, and the first elderly person has already died.

SOS... Urgent measures are needed to avoid another humanitarian disaster. First, the authorities of Armenia can engage many volunteers and accelerate the process of accepting people, reducing the congestion. In addition, they can deliver food, water, and essential supplies in collaboration with the Armenian branch of the Red Cross. I don’t mention the Red Cross office in Stepanakert, as there is almost no food left there. However, Stepanakert could do two things: firstly, try to manage the flow of vehicles, and secondly, seek to involve peacekeepers in providing humanitarian aid to the people.

SOS... Whatever needs to be done must be done urgently, immediately!”
