Doctors Work 24-Hour Shift in Tent Camp: Details from Kornidzor
For two days now, individuals displaced by force have been transported from Artsakh to Armenia through the Lachin Corridor. They are welcomed and accommodated at a tent camp located in Kornidzor, where they receive assistance, are registered, and undergo assessments of their primary needs.
The Kornidzor-Goris section is heavily congested with traffic. Police vehicles regularly escort the convoys of forcibly displaced individuals to Goris.
Vardan Sargsyan, a representative of the working group for managing the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, stated in an interview with Armenpress that after registration in Kornidzor, those citizens who face housing issues are accompanied to the coordination center operating in Goris, where relevant authorities ensure they are provided with temporary accommodations. Psychological support and medical assistance are also offered to individuals in Kornidzor as needed.
“The government had previously announced plans to accommodate 40,000 families. If necessary, capacities should be increased, and naturally, all issues faced by forcibly displaced individuals will be addressed. The coordination center in Goris is responsible for providing housing, but the geography of providing shelter will not be limited only to Syunik Province. Regarding the convoy loaded with humanitarian aid stationed in the Kornidzor area, a decision has been made to transfer the convoy to Goris so that humanitarian supplies can be delivered to Nagorno-Karabakh through representatives of the Russian peacekeeping forces and the ICRC,” Sargsyan noted.
He informed that doctors are working at the Kornidzor tent camp on a 24-hour basis, after which they are replaced by colleagues from healthcare institutions in other locations. The shift change occurs at 09:00 AM.
