Armenian American University: 'Detained Students Did Not Violate Any Rules'

The Armenian American University has released a statement regarding the detention of students participating in a protest demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“The Armenian American University expresses its deep concern over the detention of students by police forces near the university. Video footage and testimonies from students suggest that those detained not only did not commit administrative violations, but did not violate any rules at all. They were simply standing near the university holding Armenian flags and posters related to Artsakh and Armenia. We are concerned that such actions against students could harm Armenia's reputation as a legal and democratic state,” reads the statement.

It is worth noting that today, police forces raided the American University and arrested several students.
