19,000 People Crossed the Kornidzor Checkpoint, Says Armenian Deputy Prime Minister

The Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Tigran Khachatryan, has provided details on the support being offered to those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. According to him, they have set a goal to ensure that every arriving individual is assured of basic living conditions.

"The first question we posed at the moment of greeting is whether these individuals know where they are going and if they have places to stay, until we fully understand their needs and can implement appropriate support mechanisms, if necessary," said Khachatryan.

He added that the government has taken steps to guide those in need of accommodation at the checkpoint. Khachatryan detailed how they are organizing operations: "We are coordinating the reception process, trying to understand who needs accommodation that the government can offer. However, this has been preceded by significant preparatory work. Essentially, we have cataloged all guesthouses and hotel accommodations across all regions of Armenia where we can offer residence, and we have a detailed map to direct those in need."

According to him, 19,000 people have crossed the Kornidzor checkpoint. Over the past three days, more than 2,500 individuals have been provided with accommodation. "About a thousand of them are located in various guesthouses or hotels in Syunik, 500 in Vayots Dzor, around 500 in Gegharkunik, and their placement in various guesthouses and hotels in Tavush is ongoing at this hour," he noted.

He also mentioned that steps are being taken to address the food and other basic needs of the displaced individuals. "My colleagues have been working around the clock to ensure that urgent issues are resolved in a timely manner," he said, emphasizing that securing accommodation for people is a key priority at this moment.
