In Artsakh, There are Positions Where the Entire Personnel Has Perished and No Combat Position is Left Vacant, Says Abrahamyan
In Artsakh, there are positions where the entire personnel has perished. This was stated today by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the Armenian National Assembly from the "I Have Honor" faction, during a press conference near the government building.
He noted that in the past nine months, Azerbaijan has been conducting a debilitating policy against Artsakh, aimed at breaking the resilience of the Artsakh people in the final phase of military actions, occurring amid the silence of the Armenian authorities, and in some cases with their tacit approval.
"The Artsakh people defended their entrusted sections of the frontline as best as they could. There is not a single combat position left vacant; battles have been ongoing in all directions," Abrahamyan emphasized.
According to him, although the Artsakh people have shown fierce resistance, the imbalance of power was evident — on one side, Turkey was supporting Azerbaijan with all its capabilities, while on the other side, Artsakh had been under blockade for nine months, facing a severe shortage of all necessary supplies. Under these conditions, Artsakh could not withstand for long.
"The Armenian authorities exhibited a passive stance, even declaring that they would not intervene in any situation. This also provided Azerbaijan with a license to continue its military operations in the heaviest manner," Abrahamyan stated.
He further noted that this was also the reason why Azerbaijan utilized all available resources during military actions, from long-range precision missile systems to military aviation, etc. In this situation, the Artsakh people found themselves in a dead-end.
Abrahamyan emphasized that their departure from their homeland is a consequence of Azerbaijani aggression, the demise of international law, and the criminal indifference of the Armenian authorities.
When asked what guarantees Armenia has today that there will not be a new attack towards Syunik, Abrahamyan pointed out that the illusions Armenia had regarding the inviolability of an internationally recognized state following 2020 have dissipated. Azerbaijan does not hesitate to undertake military aggression in any direction.
Abrahamyan also drew attention to the numerous publications in Turkish media about the so-called "Zangezur Corridor," emphasizing that this issue must be resolved at any cost.
"This contains threats and blackmail, because if it is not about military actions, that is, not about reaching that corridor by force, it is evident that Turkey and Azerbaijan are attempting to achieve their desired outcomes through negotiations under the threat of blackmail," Abrahamyan stated.
The MP added that the purpose of the current protests in the country is not only the Artsakh issue but also the security of Armenia, and that Artsakh was the shield of Armenia, which no longer exists. He stressed that from now on, Turkey and Azerbaijan's entire focus will be on Armenia.
