I Hope It's Obvious to Everyone That We Can’t Have a Cozy Relationship with Russia: Daniel Ioannisyan
Daniel Ioannisyan, the head of the ‘Informed Citizens’ initiative, wrote on his Facebook page:
“The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs literally states that, do not say, Putin, Aliyev, and Pashinyan had a ‘gentlemanly’ agreement in November 2020 to leave the status of Artsakh for future generations, and it turns out that Pashinyan broke that agreement. If such an agreement existed, then just days later, it was Putin who broke it by declaring that Artsakh is part of Azerbaijan... And how many times has Aliyev declared this—it would be too many to count.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also clearly trying to interfere in Armenia’s internal affairs, following the example of Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, and the Kremlin's propaganda machine. This once again proves that Moscow is attempting to undermine the constitutional order in Armenia.
I hope it's clear to everyone by now that we cannot have a cozy relationship with Russia. We must urgently disconnect Russian TV channels as a threat to statehood and independence, and withdraw the 102nd military base. Next, we need to start the formal process of exiting the CSTO (which, in fact, we have long left), and transfer the control of Zvartnots Airport and the borders with Iran and Turkey from the FSB of Russia to the Armenian border guards.
P.S. If the government wants public support on the issue of independence, it must move from words to visible actions for the public.
