Russia Has No Connection to Protests in Armenia: Russian Foreign Ministry

The irresponsible approach of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's team has led to understandable discontent among parts of Armenian society, manifested in popular protests. Claims that these protests were inspired by Russia are unfounded, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The head of the government of Armenia must clearly understand that Moscow does not engage in such activities, unlike the West, which is quite adept at organizing 'color revolutions', but curiously chose to overlook numerous instances of the authorities in Yerevan pursuing protesters. At the same time, it is known that the U.S. ambassador maintains close ties with the authorities. Against this backdrop, it is clearly at the instigation of the authorities that a genuine anti-Russian panic has spread in the Armenian media.

We are convinced that the leadership in Yerevan is making a grave mistake by deliberately attempting to undermine Armenia's diverse and centuries-old ties with Russia, turning the country into a hostage of Western geopolitical games. We believe that the overwhelming majority of the Armenian population understands this,” the statement said.
