Erdogan: We Expect Armenia to Respond to the Hand of Peace Extended to It and to Take Honest Steps

Azerbaijan has been "forced to carry out anti-terror operations in Nagorno-Karabakh." This was announced by Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan following negotiations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Nakhchivan, as reported by TASS.

Unfortunately, Erdogan noted, nothing was done to respond to Azerbaijan's legitimate concerns regarding Karabakh, which compelled the country to take action. With Azerbaijan's victory, an opportunity has emerged for a complete resolution of the situation in the region. This opportunity, he believes, requires thorough analysis. "We expect Armenia to respond to the hand of peace extended to it and to take honest steps," he stated.

The Turkish leader emphasized that "in the case of a peaceful resolution, there are no losers." He added, "It is our duty to ensure peace, tranquility, and prosperity in the region for our peoples. We are determined and sincere in realizing this, and we want our partners to exhibit the same sincerity."

According to him, the Azerbaijani army's operation was carried out in a very short time and with utmost attention to the safety of the civilian population. He further remarked that this "operation is a critical event for the region." Erdogan reiterated that the relationship between Turkey and Azerbaijan is unique, and they will continue their efforts to strengthen cooperation with Baku in all areas.
