Video: Allies We Have Relied On for Many Years Have Posed the Problem of the Impossibility of Having an Independent State
The security systems and allies we have relied on for many years have posed the problem of exposing our vulnerabilities and justifying the impossibility of the Armenian people having an independent state. This statement was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in his address to the public today.
According to him, this policy has nothing to do with the revolution that took place in Armenia in 2018. Pashinyan added that we have periodically seen the manifestations of this policy in recent decades.
“We have never agreed to formulations that question the independence of the Republic of Armenia, but it is concerning that instead of being attentive to our will to have an independent, self-sufficient, free, and democratic state, some of our partners are increasingly making efforts to expose our vulnerabilities in the security sector, now undermining not only our external but also our internal security and stability, violating all norms of diplomatic and intergovernmental relations ethics and correctness, including obligations undertaken by treaties,” stated Prime Minister Pashinyan.
If efforts aimed at guaranteeing the rights and security of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh do not yield results, the Government will take in our brothers and sisters from Nagorno-Karabakh in Armenia with utmost care. In his address, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that if effective mechanisms for protecting the Armenian people from ethnic cleansing and creating real conditions for their living in their homes are not established, the likelihood that the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh will see their only option as leaving their homeland increases significantly.
Pashinyan noted that Armenia has never renounced its allied obligations and has never betrayed its allies: “The analysis of events shows that those security systems and allies on whom we have relied for many years have posed the problem of exposing our vulnerabilities and justifying the impossibility of the Armenian people having an independent state. We will take all measures to preserve our independence. It is necessary to transform and supplement Armenia's external and internal security instruments. In this context, we also regard the reforms of the army and security forces, as well as the de facto recognition of the borders of the Republic of Armenia on October 6, 2022, in Prague, and May 14, 2023, in Brussels, where the administrative borders of Soviet Armenia are de jure formulated as the borders of the Republic of Armenia,” he said.
According to Pashinyan, every citizen of our country must choose whether they support independence or becoming an outpost.
