Azerbaijan Ready for Genuine Dialogue and Negotiations with Armenia: Bayramov
Azerbaijan is determined to reintegrate ethnic Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh as citizens with equal rights. This was announced by Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
"Azerbaijan’s constitution, national legislation, and the international obligations it has undertaken provide a solid foundation for this purpose," he stated.
"Finally, on September 21, a mature meeting took place in Evlakh between the special representative of the Azerbaijani government and representatives of the Armenian residents. Dialogue will continue in this format to directly discuss the government's reintegration programs, as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid, provision of public services, and restoration and maintenance of infrastructure," he said.
Referring to the prospects for normalizing relations with Armenia, Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan reaffirms its readiness for genuine dialogue and negotiations based on mutual and equal respect for each other's legitimate interests.
"We remain steadfastly convinced that Armenia and Azerbaijan have a historic opportunity to establish friendly relations and coexist peacefully as two sovereign states with internationally recognized borders," Bayramov added. He also highlighted the role of international actors who can and desire to "support Azerbaijan and Armenia in this endeavor in a fair, disinterested, and impartial manner."
