Former Italian President Giorgio Napolitano Passes Away
Former Italian President Giorgio Napolitano has died at the age of 99, reports ANSA. He served as the head of state from 2006 to 2015.
The political figure, a member of the Resistance movement and former leader of the Italian Communist Party, had seen his health deteriorate in recent times. He spent several months in a Roman clinic.
In 2013, Napolitano became the first re-elected president in the history of the Italian Republic. He retired early due to age in 2015, when he was 89 years old.
