Susanna Gaboyan Withdraws from Chess Tournament and Goes on Hunger Strike

Armenian chess player Susanna Gaboyan has withdrawn from the international tournament being held in Tsaghkadzor. The Women's International Master made a statement on social media regarding her decision.

"Due to the situation, I have decided to withdraw from participating in the international tournament in Tsaghkadzor. Today, for the first time, I made the decision to leave the tournament and join Suren Petrosyan's hunger strike, which has a very simple demand: all those who have achieved success in various fields and are heard by the public should come to the Republic Square near the statue of Garegin Nzhdeh. As a representative of sports, I want to appeal especially to athletes who have achieved success in sports to join and fight."

It is noteworthy that Suren Petrosyan, the leader of the Democratic Rally party, and his supporters began a mass hunger strike yesterday in protest against the Armenian authorities' policies concerning the Republic of Artsakh.
