No Discussions Exist on Curfew: Taron Chakhoyan Addresses Misinformation
Deputy Head of the Office of the Prime Minister Taron Chakhoyan has addressed misinformation that has been circulating recently on his Facebook page, stating that such claims are part of an information campaign against Armenia in the context of hybrid warfare.
According to Chakhoyan, it is false to claim that there is a huge crowd participating in protests in Yerevan. He asserted that only 850 citizens are currently involved in the demonstrations.
Chakhoyan also emphasized that there are no protests or strikes occurring in several educational institutions, reassuring that the educational process in the country is continuing normally.
He addressed media reports mentioning discussions about implementing a curfew, stating that there are no discussions about such a measure at all.
Chakhoyan deemed utterly false the rumors that Turks with Armenian passports have entered Armenia and are abducting children. He stressed that Armenia's law enforcement is vigilantly carrying out its functions.
The latest piece of misinformation mentioned by Chakhoyan involves reports that residents in border communities of Armenia are receiving SMS messages from Russian phone numbers, indicating that they need to evacuate because war is imminent. Chakhoyan noted that this is merely aimed at creating panic and is a psychological attack.
He advised citizens to refrain from misinformation produced by the hybrid warfare unleashed against Armenia and to rely only on official news sources.
