"You're Escalating the Situation": Police Chief Negotiates with Protest Participants
The police chief, Aram Hovhannisyan, approached citizens protesting in front of the government building demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, attempting to negotiate with them.
"They are dignified police officers; they won't act without your orders. But you've already crossed the line of the law," one of the protesters addressed the police chief.
"We have sworn to uphold the law; we maintain public order," Aram Hovhannisyan responded.
The protester articulated that it was not evident what the police intended, to which the police chief replied that the citizens were escalating the situation.
"If we unite, there will be no escalation," reacted one of the protest participants.
Earlier, it was reported that the situation in front of the government building was tense, with police using force to detain several citizens.
