Peru Denies Alien Origin of Nazca Desert Mummies: Findings Revealed
The mummies from Peru's Nazca Desert have been identified as remains from pre-Columbian skeletal remains. This was stated by Leslie Urteaga, head of Peru's Ministry of Culture, during a broadcast on Latina Noticias, as reported by RIA Novosti.
These mummies, presented to the Congress of Mexico by ufologist Jaime Maussan, were claimed to be of an extraterrestrial race. “It was very quickly established that these were remains from the pre-Columbian era,” he said in response to questions regarding the results of the investigation into the mummies' origin allegedly discovered on the southern coast of Peru in 2015.
According to the minister, the topic of the origin of these mummified bodies has been discussed in the ministry for a long time. At the time it became known, a criminal case was opened against those who took the relics out of the country.
“At that moment, we (the mummies) considered them as remains from the pre-Columbian period,” Urteaga added.
When speaking about the alleged extraterrestrial features and DNA analysis of the mummies presented at the hearings in the Mexican Congress, the Minister of Culture emphasized that no scientific organization in Peru has made such claims.
According to statements from Peruvian scientists who opposed the falsification of archaeological finds in 2018, the “alien bodies” could have been created from fragments of real mummies discovered in the Nazca Desert three years ago. In 2015, excavations in that area uncovered 171 mummies, approximately 1,200 years old, and it is possible that other mummies or their fragments from this period could have ended up with fraudsters.
