VIDEO: Pashinyan on Electric Vehicle Imports and Incentives
The exemption from value-added tax for electric vehicles in Armenia is set to be extended until January 1, 2025. This was presented by Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan during a government session.
"According to the current law, the mentioned vehicles are exempt from VAT until January 1, 2024. The draft proposal suggests extending the exemption for another year," said Khojoyan.
He noted that during these two years, the volume of electric vehicle imports has increased significantly. "In particular, in 2022, the import of electric vehicles grew 1.8 times compared to 2021, and around 12 times compared to 2020. The import volume of electric motorcycles and mopeds saw an increase of 3.8 times in 2022 compared to 2021," Khojoyan stated.
Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed satisfaction, stating, "We must note with joy that the perception of electric vehicles in Armenia is growing, and this is fundamentally good news." More details can be found in the video.
