VIDEO: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Comments on NATO Membership Statement
Armenia's partnership with NATO has not started this year; we have been collaborating with NATO in various formats and are willing to continue that process. This was stated by Armenia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahan Costanyan during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly today, September 4.
Addressing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that one day you may wake up and see that Russia is no longer here, the Deputy Minister said, “Regarding Armenian-Russian relations and the issues we observe in these relations, these have been voiced multiple times, particularly in September 2022, when there was an assault by Azerbaijan on Armenia's sovereign territory, we expected a different, more adequate response from both Russia and the CSTO.”
When asked whether direct questions are posed regarding whether Russia wants to leave the region during meetings with Russian officials, Vahan Costanyan replied, “We have very clear and open discussions with our Russian counterparts, expressing our grievances concerning the absence of actions observed on the part of Russia.”
It is worth noting that earlier, public figure Günther Feling called for Armenia to join the NATO alliance. For more details, watch the video.
