Putin Accepts Kim Jong Un's Invitation to Visit North Korea
During North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's visit to Vladivostok, Russian President Vladimir Putin was invited to his country. Putin has accepted the invitation, as reported by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president.
“In a private conversation, Kim Jong Un invited Putin to visit North Korea. Putin gratefully accepted this invitation. All agreements will continue through diplomatic channels,” Peskov's statement was quoted by the RBK publication.
Peskov was also asked about military-technical cooperation between the parties. “Military-technical cooperation belongs to a category of quite sensitive areas of interaction. I repeat once again—North Korea is our neighbor, and we intend to develop relations in all possible fields, which we will do,” said the Russian president's press secretary.
Peskov described the meeting between the two leaders as “very, very constructive.” According to him, the parties have agreed to continue communications. In particular, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is scheduled to visit Pyongyang in October. In July, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu visited North Korea.
