Only Russia Can Be the Real Security Guarantee for the Armenian People: Klimov

The only real security guarantee for the Armenian people can be Russia, while the Americans are trying to create another flashpoint of tension in the Caucasus. This was stated to RIA Novosti by Andrey Klimov, head of the Federation Council's commission on the protection of state sovereignty and prevention of interference in Russia's internal affairs.

At the same time, according to Klimov, the United States, realizing that sooner or later the Ukrainian adventure will end—and not in their favor—is preparing new areas of tension.

He stated that Washington has never hidden its intention to continue to escalate the situation in the Caucasus and thereby try to destabilize Russia.

Klimov emphasized that regardless of which political figure is in power in Armenia, the U.S. would attempt either to remove them or to win them over. “Judging by everything we hear, this is one of the first stories for the Americans in the post-Soviet space,” he said.
