Did Serzh Sargsyan Visit Baden-Baden Using State Funds? Criminal Case Dropped
The criminal case initiated to investigate the visits of Armenia's second president Serzh Sargsyan to Baden-Baden, Germany during his term, the purpose of those flights, and potential misuse of state funds has been dropped. This information was reported by Sputnik Armenia, citing the Armenian Prosecutor's Office.
"The criminal case has been terminated as no criminal composition was identified in the presented materials," the prosecutors stated.
It is worth noting that the Special Investigative Service announced on October 2, 2021, that a criminal case had been initiated based on a report from Daniel Ioannisyan, a program coordinator for the NGO 'Civil Society Enlightenment'. In his report, Ioannisyan claimed that the plane serving Serzh Sargsyan operated from 2008 to 2017 and conducted several flights to Baden-Baden at the expense of state funds without any official necessity.
