Zahharova Responds to Reports of 'Wagnerians' in Armenia
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has commented on reports claiming that there are 3,000 Wagner mercenaries in Armenia intending to carry out a coup. Speaking at a press briefing today, Zakharova dismissed such publications as yet another myth.
“Are there photographs? Are there any evidence? Where did the number 3,000 come from? Why not three quadrillion or one and a half people? Where are the facts? Where are that many people? Armenia is not a country with three billion inhabitants. If anyone saw those people, they would have noticed,” she stated.
She recalled the statement made by Grigory Karasin, the head of the International Committee of the Federation Council, who termed this publication as nonsense. “Three thousand is not a small number; it is not a small group of people that can remain hidden,” stressed the Russian Foreign Ministry representative.
It should be noted that last week, reports circulated in Armenia claiming that there are 3,000 Wagner fighters in the country, allegedly supported by local forces to execute a coup and oust Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
